Ok, here is one of those amusing ones. I bring it up now only because even some of us warhorses need a refresher when it comes to come combat related things. Yes, you may read that as me 'mr combat' having to look it up before doing it. Turns out you forget stuff if you have not done it in 10+ years regularly.
Initiative is a tad funky. It works like this. Player Characters and NPCs each roll a single 1d10 and to that result add their Dexterity and Wits scores. (Example: Ulric has wits 3 and Dex 4. These total 7 so he rolls a single D10, with a result of 4. 4+7=11)
The order of initiative is determined by the person with the highest score. They then declare their action for the round. It gets a bit funkier as a character may choose to delay their action for the round. In so doing they allow others to act before them.
